The Basement Bathroom

Tonight I was looking forward to laying the tile in the basement bathroom that would allow us to progress to having 2 usable toilets. Down the road we have plans to expand this bathroom but for now, laying cheap tile to replace the aweful carpet that had been UNDER the toilet seemed to be the best short-term fix.

So, for your viewing pleasure, here are pictures of our tile-laying adventure!

As you can see, tile didn't get on the floor tonight. Instead, as we began removing the baseboard we discovered black mold behind the toilet area. So Ken began demolition. He looked at me once and asked, "And we became homeowners why?"

Oh the joys!

Remind him (and everyone near the worksite) to wear a mask! Gotta protect those lungs! Rip out what you can and bleach everything else to death!! Oh the joys!!!

Stainkill is another option to seal it so that it doesn't come through again. Being a homeowner is never ending...good luck!!!!!

Stay Healthy!
A spray bottle with bleach might help but I would recommend talking to the virginia health dept. They might have programs that are free to homeowners to remove it in the most eco friendly and safest way for your family.
